Preeclampsia is a hypertensive disorder of pregnancy characterized by new-onset hypertension and organ dysfunction after 20 weeks’ gestation. It remains a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality worldwide.
This CME session will focus on antepartum management and timing of delivery, including:
Risk assessment and monitoring: maternal symptoms, blood pressure control, laboratory surveillance, and fetal well-being assessment
Pharmacologic management: antihypertensive therapy and seizure prophylaxis with magnesium sulfate
Criteria for expectant management versus immediate delivery
Optimal timing of delivery based on gestational age, disease severity, and maternal-fetal status
Timely diagnosis, careful monitoring, and appropriate intervention are critical to optimizing outcomes for both mother and baby. |
