Review of Maternal deaths that occurred at Lower health units (HC IV's and below)
Name | Ministry of Health Reproductive and Child Health Department |
Activity Title | Review of Maternal deaths that occurred at Lower health units (HC IV's and below) |
Details | Between April and June, a series of virtual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions were held every Monday, targeting healthcare providers at Health Centre IVs, IIIs, and below. The objective was to review maternal deaths and near-miss cases occurring at these levels, with expert guidance provided online. These sessions focused on case-based discussions, offering expert recommendations to improve clinical management and decision-making in obstetric emergencies. A multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, neonatologists, anesthetists, and emergency medicine specialists led the sessions, sharing evidence-based strategies to strengthen emergency obstetric and newborn care. The sessions aimed to build the capacity of frontline healthcare workers and ultimately reduce preventable maternal deaths and near-miss events in lower-level facilities. |
