DetailsBetween January and 23 March 2026, the National MPDSR team convened weekly review sessions aimed at strengthening the response to the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality. These sessions served as a dynamic learning platform, bringing together multidisciplinary participants to share best practices in the implementation of the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) system, while also reflecting on emerging priorities in safe motherhood. The discussions consistently emphasized continuous quality improvement, with a focus on key interventions including Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (CEmONC), Postnatal Care (PNC), and other targeted strategies addressing critical gaps in maternal and newborn health. In addition, the sessions provided an opportunity for in-depth review of actions generated from lower-level health facilities. Technical guidance was offered to support timely follow-up, strengthen accountability, and ensure effective translation of lessons into practice across all levels of care.
