Details | This session describes VTE prevention in the primary care setting. It aims to increase awareness of hospital-associated thrombosis and to enhance patient care before and after a hospital admission with respect to VTE prevention. It is designed for all primary healthcare workers, including GPs, nurses, health visitors, midwives and community pharmacists.
Objectives
By the end of this session you will be able to:
• Describe the presentation of VTE
• List the risk factors for VTE
• List the different agents and regimens used for thromboprophylaxis
• Explain the preparation for a patient's admission to and discharge from hospital
• Describe specific clinical situations at increased risk of VTE |
