snake bites

NameBOMBO GENERAL MILITARY HOSPITAL
Activity Titlesnake bites
DetailsIn Uganda, snake bites pose a significant public health challenge, contributing to morbidity and mortality particularly in rural communities. With a diverse range of snake species, some of which are venomous, the incidence of snake bites remains a pressing concern. Limited access to antivenom, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and a lack of awareness compound the challenges associated with snake bites in the country. As a result, this public health issue demands urgent attention to enhance prevention strategies, promote community education, and improve the availability of antivenom treatments. Addressing snake bites in Uganda requires a comprehensive approach that integrates healthcare capacity-building, public awareness campaigns, and strategic distribution of antivenom resources to mitigate the impact on vulnerable populations and ultimately reduce the burden of snake bite-related complications.
