DetailsIntroduction to CME on the Management of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a major public health concern, often resulting from road traffic accidents, falls, assaults, or combat-related injuries. It ranges from mild concussions to severe brain damage, with significant implications for neurological function, disability, and mortality. This Continuing Medical Education (CME) session will focus on the acute management and long-term care of TBI patients. We will discuss the pathophysiology of brain injury, initial assessment using the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS), emergency stabilization, neuroimaging, surgical interventions, and rehabilitation strategies. Emphasis will also be placed on preventing secondary brain injury, managing intracranial pressure, and improving patient outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach. Strengthening our capacity to manage TBI effectively is crucial in reducing morbidity and enhancing recovery for affected individuals.
