| Details | The Uganda Diabetes Association (UDA), in collaboration with the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) School of Diabetes, is proud to introduce an initiative sponsored by the Sanofi Global Health Unit and endorsed by the Ministry of Health NCD Department to strengthen the capacity of health workers in Uganda to effectively screen and manage diabetes. Background Recent findings from the NCD Risk Factor Survey (STEPS Survey) 2023 reveal that the prevalence of diabetes among adults in Uganda has more than doubled over the past decade, increasing from 1.4% in 2014 to 3.3% in 2023. This alarming trend underscores the critical need to empower health workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to combat this growing public health challenge. This training program is part of ongoing efforts to reverse the rising diabetes burden and improve healthcare outcomes in Uganda. |
