DetailsThe CME on Diabetes Management held on 31st July 2025 brought together healthcare professionals to review updated strategies for preventing, diagnosing, and treating diabetes mellitus. The session highlighted the rising global and local burden of diabetes, driven largely by lifestyle changes and obesity, and emphasised its serious complications, including cardiovascular disease, kidney failure, neuropathy, and vision loss. Key discussions focused on patient-centred care, lifestyle modification, and pharmacological options—from metformin and insulin to newer agents like SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists. Participants were also introduced to emerging tools such as continuous glucose monitoring, insulin pumps, and mobile health apps to improve control and adherence. The importance of multidisciplinary teamwork was underscored, with case studies showing how collaboration between doctors, dietitians, and community health workers improves outcomes. Prevention strategies, including community screening and health education campaigns, were encouraged as sustainable solutions. Overall, the CME was an impactful update, equipping participants with practical skills and evidence-based knowledge to strengthen diabetes care and prevention efforts.
