(Know if your patient is conscious or unconscious)
Keep the patient in an appropriate position.
Take vital observations;T,P,R,BP, SPO2, RBS least 4 hourly.
Take patient’s weight and muac.
BP should be taken at least twice daily.
Give oxygen therapy if SPO2 is below 90%.,
Investigations : B/S, CBC, RFTs , Urinalysis
Manage malaria with i.v artesunate (2.4 * bwt if >20kg and 3.0*bwt if <20kg. And I. V Quinine( 10mg/kg)
Monitor fluid input and output using a fluid chart. ( Record input of IV fluids and oral fluids as well as and output of urine and vomitus. Normal urine output – 1ml/kg/hour |
