| Details | The group convenes weekly to discuss targeted interventions for the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality, sharing best practices for implementing Maternal Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR). The meetings provide technical input on emerging processes and issues in safe motherhood and periodically offer insights into quality improvement interventions such as MPDSR, Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric-Newborn Care (EmONC), and Postnatal Care (PC). During one session, the focus was on reviewing progressive updates on actions proposed during the review of maternal deaths reported at lower health units. This was followed by sessions on various topics including: Newborn Situation Analysis for 2023 by the School of Public Health research team, and the utilsation of MPDSR to improve quality of care interventions: A case of Karamoja Region. Each session concluded with a weekly MPDSR report highlighting trends in maternal and perinatal deaths reported. The sessions were held on June 20th, and 27th 2024. |
