DetailsDespite a wealth of natural resources, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world. Médecins Sans Frontières-Operational Centre Amsterdam (MSF-OCA) has been working in the provinces of North Kivu and South Kivu since the early 1990s and in Katanga since 2003. MSF-OCA operates health programmes in Mweso and Walikale in North Kivu; Baraka and Kimbi Lulimba in South Kivu; and Shamwana, Katanga (DRC).. Between 2011 and 2013, the number of recorded malaria cases more than doubled and between 2009 and 2013, increased almost 4-fold in MSF-OCA programmes in DRC (.
