DetailsThis course is intended for health care workers providing maternity services (nurses, midwives, doctors), MPDSR committee members, and program managers who are interested in improving Maternal mortality reporting in health management information systems. This course is NOT for coders (these need more advanced training). It gives an overview of the WHO Application of ICD-10 to deaths during pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium: ICD-Maternal Mortality (ICD-MM), the major groups of causes of maternal deaths; examples of codes, and provides exercises on how to classify the underlying cause of death based on the 9 ICD MM groups.
