DetailsThe group convenes weekly to discuss targeted interventions for the leading causes of maternal and perinatal mortality, sharing best practices in implementing Maternal Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR). The meeting offers technical input on emerging processes and issues in safe motherhood. Periodically, the session provides insights into quality improvement interventions such as MPDSR, Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric-Newborn Care (EmONC), and Postnatal Care (PC). During this session, our focus was on reviewing progressive updates on the actions proposed during the review of maternal deaths reported at Kicwamba HC III, Mugusu HC III, and Rukoki HC IV as a strategy to prevent similar cases. This was followed by a status update report on all maternal and perinatal deaths that occurred across the country during Week 2, analyzing trends and reviewing progress towards the implementation of committee recommendations.
